Community Transport

 

What is Community Transport ?

 

Community Transport is a non-profit making scheme that provides transport to residents of the District who are unable to access Public Transport. 


The scheme operates 5 wheelchair accessible minibuses that have tail lifts for easy access, if required, and a number of vehicles in a Social Car Scheme.

 

Wyvern Community Transport are members of the Community Transport Association and are committed to the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MIDAS).

 

The scheme operates Monday Friday   8:30am 4:30pm and on a Saturday 9:30am-3:30pm

 

Who may use the Scheme?

 

You must be a permanent resident of the Rochford District:

 

  • Become a Member of the Scheme
  • Have restricted mobility
  • Be unable to access Public Transport
  • Temporarily unable to access Public Transport
  • Live in an area not served by Public Transport
  • Or where transport needs are not met by existing timetables

 

How do I join the Scheme?

 

By contacting Wyvern Community Transport by phone, letter or in person and an application form will be provided alternatively you can downloading an application form from their website in related links at the bottom of the page. This must be completed and returned with the membership fee.

 

When your registration is confirmed you will be issued with a membership card and number, you may then access the transport by making a telephone booking.

   

How much will it cost?

 

Members assist with the costs of the journey by paying £2.50 for any distance up to 4 miles and then 50p per mile thereafter.

 

How do I book a Journey?

 

By contacting Wyvern Community Transport on 01268 753513

 

Between: -  9.30am - 1.00pm Monday to Friday

 

Where possible, bookings should be made giving at least 24 hours notice. Bookings cannot be made more than seven (7) days in advance.

 

What can I use the scheme for?

 

Members can use the scheme for: -

 

  • Hospital Appointments / Visiting
  • Social/ Day Centres
  • Lunch Clubs
  • Further Education
  • Rehabilitation Classes
  • Visit friends and family
  • Shopping
  • Doctors
  • Dentist
  • Optician
  • Chiropodist
  • Church

 

Due to the time involved with Hospital appointments drivers are unable to wait for Members, however arrangements can be made to collect at a later time.

 

How do I pay for my journeys?

 

You can pay the driver in cash.
