Climate Change
The Council has developed and approved its Climate Change and
Sustainability Strategy and its associated action plan - the
ClimateCO2de, which aims to improve natural resource efficiency
both within Council operations and out in the community.
Resource efficiency is not just about the environment, or
economics, or climate change. It cuts through every aspect of our
lives. From over filling the kettle for our first cup of tea in the
morning; to driving to the shops when we could probably walk. There
are things we all do every day that are beginning to add up in a
big way.
The benefits of improving resource efficiency are many and
varied, from reducing our carbon emissions to improving health and
wellbeing.
So how will the ClimateCO2de help?
The ClimateCO2de heralds the start of a programme of services
that will make it easier for our communities to act in more
environmentally conscious ways. The services that we will be
delivering with partners will be focussed on enabling everyone to
be a bit more environmentally conscious.

Energy monitors
Did you know you can borrow an energy monitor from the library
in the same way you can borrow a book or a cd? The monitors are
free to loan, very simple to operate and can show you how much
electricity you are using. For more information, please visit the
Energy Monitors page via the related links at the bottom of this
page.
Thermal Imaging
One of the first actions we took was to offer a free thermal
imaging service. This trial service offered a free thermal image of
people’s homes to highlight areas where homes were losing energy
and therefore wasting money. For more information please visit the
Thermal Imaging page via the related links at the bottom of this
page.
